Red Amaryllis Flower

It's always fun to receive gifts, but I think it is most fun to get a gift that you will enjoy more as time goes on as you learn to appreciate it. That is how this amaryllis was for me. A dear friend gave me an amaryllis bulb for Christmas one year. Although I love flowers and gardens, I don't exactly have a green thumb, so to be honest I was a little afraid I wouldn't be able to grow it well or would kill the poor thing! My son wanted to plant it right away so we did so in a medium size pot and placed it on our kitchen window sill. How delighted we were that it did so well in the middle of winter!

Inspiration from the Earth's Beauty

When I take a close look at God's Creation, I am always so inspired by what I see that many times Scripture comes to mind as I am observing them. Here are some spring images that reminded me of Isaiah 35:2 - "It will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. They will see the glory of the LORD."

One of the signs that spring is coming after the long winter months happens will the first precious green stems pop out of the ground and grow into early spring blooms. The crocus is one of my favorites in early spring each year.

Sometimes just seeing beauty in nature helps to put a smile on people's faces! There was a time about a year ago when I was just coming out of the hospital and feeling a little down because I would be spending much of my summer resting instead of being out doing fun things. Some dear friends sent me a simple bouquet of flowers that although small gave me much joy at viewing them along with knowing that I was loved!
